Chapter 116

“Boy, am I glad we are home.” Jon sighed and crashed on the couch.

“Me too.” Kim said giggling. She was sitting on the floor and was greeted by Sambo and Kidd, who just couldn’t stop nudging and licking her hands. Seems they really missed their mistress.

“This was the longest flight I have ever been on. Eight fucking hours with ten kids that just wouldn’t shut up. A nightmare.” Jon was finally greeted by Kidd who put his head in his lap to be petted.

“You do know that the most of those kids are yours, right?” Kim asked grinning and sat down on the couch next to him.

“Yeah, I know. That’s why I asked if there’s something in your bag to shut them up.” She laughed.

“I would never drug your kids, Jon.” She told him sternly.

“Why not? They were a nightmare. I swear to God, if I ever hear that stupid Mario Brothers Melody again, I’m gone kill someone.” His two youngest sons had great pleasure explaining every single level in their favorite game to him….over…and over again.

“You should have told them to turn it off and sleep, baby.” He shoot her a look.

“Have we met before? Or better have you met my kids? You know that it doesn’t work with them. And look who I’m talking to, you had Hector, Jason and Lily glued to you the whole time, reading Harry Potter to them.”

“Well, I liked it.” Kim clarified. The kids were asking her so sweetly that she couldn’t say no after the plane was in the air. Besides it kept her mind focused on the story and not the fact that she was on a plane again.

“I didn’t. I wanted to snuggle with you.” He whined and grabbed her hand to pull her into his embrace.

“We can snuggle now, baby.” She said softly and kissed his cheek.

“Or maybe more.” He wiggled his eyebrows.

“Uhm….sorry, Jon. Not this week.” She told him apologetic. He groaned.

“Dammit. I hate mother nature.” Kim sighed agreeing.

“Believe me, you would hate her even more, when you would have to deal with it.” He looked at her concerned.

“I’m sorry. Do you need a back rub or hot-water bag?”

“Nah, I’m fine. Thanks Jon.” She kissed him softly and sat up. “So, how about I show you around? You haven’t been here since the apartment is finished.”

“Do I really have to move?”

“Yes. Come on.” She pulled him to his feet. He groaned and stretched his back lightly. After sitting all this hours on the plane every muscle in his body protested.

“Awww, poor baby. Do you need the hot-water bag?” Kim teased him.

“Oh, just shut up.” He said pouting and rolled his shoulders to get rid of the pain.

“I like the new furniture.” He pointed at the wall that held the TV and stereo. She told him that she only kept the couch and chairs in the living room and re-did everything else.

“Maybe it’s still a little naked over here.” He  walked to a side-board which contained some photos of her parents, Fran and Jason.

“Well, I thought you wanna put up some photos of your kids. And I took some great shots of all of us while we were in London. Maybe we add some more.”

“That’s sweet. Thanks honey.” He wrapped his right arm around her shoulder and pulled her a little closer. He really didn’t need a lot to feel like home, but some pictures of his children were definitely necessary.

“Come on, I show you the kids rooms and your office.” Kim got all excited now and pulled him along to the stairs to the upper level. She couldn’t wait to show him her little surprise, the sound proof room, and hoped he’d like it.

“So, what do you think?” She’d just shown him the completely remodelled rooms of the children.

“You did an amazing job. They’ll love it.” He let his hands wander over the big transformer graffiti in Romeo’s room. He could already see his youngest sitting in front of the wall just staring at the colorful decoration day-dreaming.

“You know we won’t get any of them out of their rooms again?” she smiled at his comment.

“Well, maybe it will make things easier when we have to send them to their rooms.” Jon chuckled.

“Nah, I don’t think so…..thanks for making them feel so welcome, Kimi.” He added softly and  pulled her into his arms. She swallowed the lump that was forming in her throat.

“I love them. They are always welcome here at OUR home.” She told him trying not to cry. He kissed her deeply before pulling her back into the corridor and into his new office.

“Wow. Nice screen.” He grinned like a fool when he spotted the huge flat-screen across from his desk.

“You like?” she asked laughing.

“Love it.” He sat down behind his desk in a comfortable leather office chair and put his feet on the desk.

“Ahhhh, nice….” He sighed and closed his eyes.

“Want something to drink?”

“Yes please. Would you mind going downstairs again?” He asked with still closed eyes. She chuckled.

“It’s all here, Jon.”

“Hmmm?” he slowly opened his eyes and saw a small bar counter sliding out of the closet.

“Niiiiiiiiice.” He got to his feet and checked it out himself. “God, that’s great. I could play with it all day long.” Kim shook her head about his excitement.

“Come on, there’s something else you can play with.”

“Oh, really? I had no idea I would get my own playroom.” He looked as happy as his sons on Christmas morning.

“Here you go.” Kim opened the door to the small sound proof room that was installed right next to his office. His eyes grew wide.

“Oh Kimi, that’s great.”

“Is it big enough?” she asked sceptical.

“It’s perfect. Thanks so much.” He hugged her dearly and wouldn’t let go of her. She really understood how important it would be for him to be able to play or record something whenever it would hit him. Now he wouldn’t have to get up and drive over to his old place in the middle of the night, but could just work across from their bedroom.

“I love you.” He whispered softly.

“I love you too, Jon.”

  1. The renovations to the place sound amazing. Had to laugh when Jon got all excited over theTV and small bar Kim had installed in his office. I think what I love the most is the soundproof studio she had built for him. Kim definitely knows her man.
ROFL, I could just picture the expression on Jon's face with 10 kids on board the band plane.
    Awesome chapter, Kris.
