“Can’t you go faster?”
“I’m sorry sir. There is a lot of traffic due
to the concert.” The driver told him calmly.
“Dammit, we will be late.” Jon cursed.
“No, Jon. We ARE late.” Kim pointed out. They were supposed to be at the arena
over an hour ago. There were two options of arriving time at a venue for the
band. About two hours before the show starts or seconds before they had to hit
the stage, but they were under no circumstances arriving at the same time like
most of the fans.
“I told you we didn’t have time for a second
round…or third one.” Kim told him in a low voice so the driver wouldn’t hear
her.
“I know, I know…but I wasn’t thinking…..and it
was pretty nice.” He grinned when she blushed a little.
“Paul will kill us.” Kim said after she checked
her watch again. Fran had send her several short messages, in which she warned
her that everyone was freaking out right now.
“Don’t worry, you are safe…me, not so much.” He
squeezed her hand softly.
“Wait. Isn’t that the arena?” he pointed out of
the window.
“Yes, it is, sir.” The driver confirmed.
“How about we get out here and walk?” he looked
at Kim and was about to open the door.
“Great idea Jon. You crossing three big streets
only two miles from the venue on show day. Are you crazy? You would never make
it on stage. There are thousands of fans on those streets.” Kim pulled his hand
away from the door.
“Sit tight.” She told him sternly. He sighed
frustrated.
“I will try this back road, sir. There
is a small side road, not to the main backdoor, but to a small back entrance of
the venue.” The driver managed to get the car out of the traffic.
“I’ll call Paul. He can send our security to that
door.” Jon hit the speed dial of his phone and let everyone know he was getting
closer.
“Ok, let’s go Kimi. Fast and unseen. Don’t
react or stop, ok?” Jon grabbed her hand hard after he’d put on his sunglasses and base cap and pulled her out
of the car.
They had already covered about half the
distance to the backdoor and could see the security standing at the door when
an ear-piercing scream echoed through the street.
“OMG! It’s Jon! Jon Bon Jovi! JOOOOOOONNNNNN!”
“Don’t look back.” He pressed through his teeth
when you could hear the voice getting closer and lots of feet running towards
them. Kim started running and pulled Jon along. The security guys were fastly
moving into their direction and formed a barrier behind them to give them time
to rush through the door.
“Fuck, that was close.” Jon leaned against a
wall after the door closed behind them. Kim only nodded and pulled down the
corridor.
“Where the fuck have you been?” Paul greeted
them with anger when they finally entered Jon’s dressing room.
“Doesn’t matter.” Jon told him and started to
grab his stage clothes as well as the setlist Richie prepared in his absence.
Kim tried to melt into the wall when the other band members looked at her for
an explanation.
“Kim.” She could hear Fran whispering into her
left ear. “You got hay in your hair.” Trembling she closed her eyes and prayed
only Fran had noticed.
“Jon, what’s that?” David pulled something from
Jon’s hair and held it up. Kim cursed under her breath and slowly without
drawing any attention to her, moved with Fran back into the corridor and
vanished into the ladies room.
“No, idea.” Jon told him. “Come on, let’s get a
move on.” He clapped his hands and left his dressing room in a hurry. The
others chuckled and followed.
“Hay. Most definitely. Hay.” David stated
loudly on his way to the stage. Jon shot him an angry look and grabbed his
guitar.
“You. Stage. Now.” He pressed through clenched
teeth. David only laughed and took his place behind his keyboards.
“How do you like it so far?” Jon asked about an
hour later. The audience cheered loudly.
“Good. I need to change the setlist a bit now.”
His band mates looked at him surprised.
“You know, I got a request from my favorite
fan.” Loud screaming came from the fans.
“Nah, not you.” Jon laughed it off.
“There is a very special lady here tonight.” He
looked shortly at Kim, who had managed to get the hay out of her long tresses with
Fran’s help and was now standing on the side of the stage, where the audience
couldn’t see her.
“Well, she is special to me. Actually today…we
are together for one year.” Clapping and cheering could be heard.
“Yep, not bad, right?”
“You gotta thank her for that, man.” Richie’s
voice echoed through the arena. Jon grinned.
“Yeah, I know. I thanked her a couple times
today.” Naughty sounds and comments were floating through the air.
“Nah, not what you think.” Jon said dryly,
denying his afternoon activities. But he forgot David.
“So, that’s why you had hay in your hair
earlier?” the keyboard player asked in an innocent voice. Hooting came not only
from the audience, but the guys on stage. Kim buried her flushed face in her
hands while Lexi shot David a disapproving look.
“We were horseback riding.” Jon stated as
calmly as he could.
“Oh, so there is hay ON the horse too when you ride them?” David asked over the mic
grinning from ear to ear. Richie and Tico were laughing so hard they had tears
in their eyes.
Jon’s expression got stonelike and if looks could kill, David would have
fallen of the stage, struck by the famous stink-eye.
“David, shut up.” Jon told him and started the
guitar intro of ‘Make a memory’ on his acoustic guitar, while everyone else in
the stadium was laughing.

LOL, Jon should have known David wasn't going to let the "Hay" subject go that easily.
ReplyDeleteNow that fan that screamed when she seen Jon, that would have been me. Lol
This was a fun chapter to read. Thank you for a great start to my day, Kris.
