Chapter 45

Kim checked her appearance in the mirror one last time. Her fingers touched the necklace that Jon gave her this morning. It looked great on her in combination with the black dress which she was wearing.

She grabbed her purse and stepped out on the deck where Jon was waiting. She smiled when she saw him. He was wearing a grey suit with a light blue button down shirt. She stepped closer to him and reached out to close one of the buttons.

“You ain’t on stage.” She said grinning. He chuckled and placed a soft kiss on her hand. She’d put her hair up in a do, just some streaks were framing her face. Her lips were shining in a soft inviting pink and her blue eyes seemed bigger than ever.

“You look gorgeous, honey….but it’s black.” He teased her. She grinned.

“Well, it perfectly shows my new best friends.” She answered and let her hand ran over the diamond necklace. Jon chuckled.

“Are you ready?” he asked and offered her his arm.

“Yes, I am.” She said and together they left their lodge. To her surprise Brian was waiting for them in a small golf cart after they left the steps behind them.

“I will drive you over to the wine cave.” He told them while Jon helped her into the cart.

“The wine cave?” she asked surprised. “We have our dinner there?”

“Yeah, I thought it would be a little bit more romantic than in the restaurant.” Jon said smiling.

“Thank you.” She whispered into his ear and kissed him sweetly. He winked at her and took her hand in his. Together they watched the amazing scenery on their short drive.

When Brian stopped the cart close to the entrance of the cave, Kim gasped.

“Wow, that looks great.” Even Jon was impressed.

The entrance to the wine cave reminded him a bit of a Japanese temple gate. Even though it was made of dark wood and not in a bright red color, which were typical for Asia. Yellow lights illuminated the paths into the cave and they both marvelled at the wrought-iron chandeliers, which matched perfectly with the elegant set tables.

“This is absolutely amazing.” Kim said while looking around in the huge cave. She never expected it to be that big.

“Thank you, Miss Anderson.” Brian said and guided them to their table.

“Seems we are the first.” She observed while sitting down.

“You will be our only guests here tonight.” Brian told her while showing Jon a collection of different wines.

“What?” She looked at Jon confused.

“I wanted to make sure, nobody will bother us.” He explained.

“You booked the whole cave?” Kim was shocked.

“Yeah.” He smirked. She shook her head.

“You are nuts.” He reached out for her hand over the table and squeezed it softly, while Brian discreetly vanished.

“I wanted this to be special for you. I wanted you to feel comfortable. I wanted to be able to kiss you when I want to and dance with you without someone telling it to the gossip tomorrow.”

Kim saw the concern in his eyes. He only wanted to make sure her life stayed as private as it was…at least for a couple more days. Slowly she got up and rounded the table. She sat down on his lap carefully and framed his face with her hands before kissing him deeply. Jon growled softly and wrapped his arms around her waist.

“Thank you.” She whispered and rested her forehead to his. He smiled softly and squeezed her hand.

“You are welcome, honey…” he paused shortly. “ Ready for some food?” he asked grinning. She chuckled.

“What a question...” she said and sat down at her side of the small table again. “I hope you told the cook, I’m not one of the girls who only eats baby portions.”

“I think they are prepared for that here.” He looked around. “Brian? We can start I think.”

“Very well, sir.” The voice echoed through the cave and Kim chuckled.

“Spooky.” Jon laughed too.

“You don’t see them, but they sure see and hear you…that’s what I call good service.” Kim nodded and watched how Brian serviced the aperitif, half dozen Oysters in a half shell.

“Oh, they are good.” Kim said.

“Yep, and perfect for later.” Jon replied grinning. Kim chuckled and shook her head.

“Only one thing in mind.”

“Well, what else should I have in mind with such a gorgeous woman by my side.” He  said and watch grinning how she flushed a little.

Brian didn’t seem to notice it when he served a delicious Whiskey Dungeness Crab Soup with Tiny Croutons, followed by two great main course, grilled Salmon with Risotto and candy stripe beets and Lamb Loin chops with Gruyere bread pudding, julienne Garden Beans and Baby carrots.

“Geeh, you wanna batten me…”Kim said after the delicious food.

“Well, I have to make sure you have enough energy for tonight.” Jon said smirking.

“Right now I’m not sure I can move, maybe you have to roll me back.” She said laughing.

“So, I’m on my own tonight after half a dozen oysters?” he asked pouting lightly. Kim chuckled.

“Maybe..” she answered.

“Well, maybe sounds already promising…how about we take a little walk before returning to the lodge.” He asked. She nodded agreeing.

“Would you please send the dessert over to the lodge Brian?” he asked when the slowly left the cave.

“Of course, sir.”

“What do you have on your mind, Mister?” she asked him when they were strolling back to their lodge.

“Me? Nothing!” he said innocently.

“Yeah, right.” She snorted. He laughed and pulled her into his arms.

“Trust me honey, you will like it.” He whispered and kissed her deeply.
