“Come on Kim! Get him off you!”
Dorothea’s voice barely made it through her blurry thoughts. She was pressed down to the floor by one of the instructors of the dojo. He was wearing a headgear and other body protection in case she would lose all her control and really attack him, but so far…nothing.
“Ok,…Sean…let’s take a break.”
Carefully the instructor released his grip and rolled off Kim. She sighed and rubbed her eyes.
“Come on.” Dot offered her hand to pull her to her feet.
“Thanks. Why can’t I do it? I’m strong enough, right?” She asked frustrated while drinking some water.
Dot watched her for a long minute. They were in training for over two months now and Kim was a great student. Her technic was outstanding, but she didn’t allow herself to use her emotions as an advantage.
Dot sighed. “Kim, you know that this is not about strength. You could easily throw a guy over your shoulder that is much taller and bigger than Sean with the right technic.”
Kim nodded defeated.
“This is about what goes on in your head! You have to stop thinking that you can’t do it, that you ain’t strong enough, that you are just a little girl. You have to get angry and use this anger in a very controlled form to get free.”
“But how do I get angry?”
“Honestly, I don’t know. You are so damn in balance and learned so well to control your emotions and keep them in check that this is really hard for you. Maybe…no…”
“What? What were you thinking about?” Kim knew Dot was right. She learned to disguise and control her feelings very early. Dot took a deep breath.
“Well,…ok, but you gotta promise me that you don’t take it personally.” Kim nodded.
“Sometimes it worked when I was mean to some of my students.” Dot said slowly.
“Mean? In what way?” Kim wanted to know.
“Well, telling them that they can’t do things…stuff like that…some got so angry that they were able to finish the training and later when they needed to get angry they simply recalled my words and where right there again.”
“I see.”
“But our situation is different Kim. I don’t wanna damaged the relationship we built up. It would be terrible for the kids and Jon.”
“I totally understand that Dot. But I would really appreciated it if we could give it a try. I promise not to hold it against you.” Dot looked at her a few seconds to make sure she really understood.
“Ok, let’s do it. Sean…prepare for impact!”
“Yes, ma’am.” The instructor put on his body protection one more time and brought Kim down on the mat.
“Well, well, well…Kimberly again not in control of her own life…so typical…” Dot got right to it and Kim had to admit she had the arrogant snotty tone in her voice down to perfection. She wondered how often Dot was confronted with it.
“You know what people are saying…you never were able to achieve anything in your life on your own.”
WHAT? Kim tried to turn her head and look at Jon’s ex-wife, but the grip she was in prevented her movement.
“Everybody knows you only graduated from High-School so early because dear Daddy made a big donation…and the same goes for college. They would have never let you study there, but Daddy donated a building…you can surely let his little naïve girl look around in the labs and library for that, right?”
Dot paused and watched Kim carefully. She could see the anger already in her eyes and she was pretty sure in her head she was already cursing her six ways to heaven. Now she only had to unleash that anger.
“And now…the relationship with Jon…oh, please…everybody knows what a control freak he is. Makes your life so damn easy again. You don’t have to make a single decision on your own. He tells you where to live, he tells you to quit your job, he tells you to travel with him…I’m pretty sure he tells you what to do when you are alone with him too, right? So typical!”
“YOU BITCH!”
Kim pressed through clenched teeth and managed to pull the Sean’s hands away from her throat. Her body twisted lightly and she managed to get the upper hand. In seconds, she was out of his grip and pushed him away with all her strength. He landed on his back with a loud thud.
But Kim didn’t care about him. She got to her feet and rushed over to Dorothea.
The brunette didn’t move an inch when Kim ran towards her with anger blazing in her blue eyes and her hands clenched to fists.
Kim stopped only inches away from her face. Dot could feel her raged breath on her skin and the heat coming from Kim’s body. She didn’t move but looked into those blue eyes calmly.
“You are good.” Kim finally whispered and her body relaxed. She sank to the floor trembling. Dot kneeled down beside her.
“You ok?” she wanted to know. Kim nodded, but didn’t look up.
“Kim…”
“I’m fine.” She said and finally managed to look Dot in the eye.
“Good.” Dot got back to her feet.
“Sean, are you ok?”
“Yes, ma’am.” He sounded a little beaten.
“How did you know this would do the trick?” Kim asked while she was sipping some water.
“You are an independent woman, proud of what you achieved in your life. I was pretty sure the idea that all of it only happened because your father paid for it would drive you insane….worked for Steph.” She added after a short pause.
“You did that with Steph?” Kim asked surprised.
“Nah, I watched it. Sean did the talking. I’m not suicidal…I have to live with that girl.” She grinned when Kim started laughing out loud.
