Chapter 87

“Fran, are you ready?” Kim knocked at her hotel door. Their plane to Tampa would leave in about an hour.

“Not really.” Fran opened the door wearing a fluffy white bathrobe.

“Ok, girl. What’s wrong?”

Even though she tried to hide it during their lunch and the shopping trip with Lexi and Ali, Kim could tell that something was not right. Her best friend was very withdrawn. She was not really into it when they all were buying new outfits for tonight’s show and she was nervous as hell when they were talking about the respective kids in their lives.

Normally she wouldn’t stop talking about Jason, but this time Ali had to nearly questioning her for everything. At the end Kim was more talking about Jason than his mother.

“What do you mean?” Fran tried avoid her.

“Oh come Fran. It’s me! You can’t hide anything from me.” Kim stepped close to her and grabbed her shoulders before looking into her eyes.

“What’s wrong?” she asked softly. Fran looked at her with tears in her eyes and sniffed lightly.

“I think I’m pregnant.” She whispered toneless. Kim blinked several times before she could say anything.

“But that’s wonderful. Congratulations!” she hugged her best friend dearly.

Fran sighed and pulled back from her to walk over to the window. Kim frowned.

“It is wonderful, right? Fran?” Her best friend didn’t answer.

“Fran? Hey?” she walked over to her and saw tears streaming down her face.

“Oh, sweetheart.” Kim pulled her into her arms and held her while she cried. Her mind was racing. Why was Fran crying? She loved kids? Shouldn’t she be happy? Richie wanted more kids? So where was the fucking problem?

“Fran, is it Richie’s?” she asked carefully when her best friend had calmed down again.

“Of course, is it Richie’s! What are you thinking of me! You know I could never cheat!” Fran nearly yelled at her.

“Then I don’t get it! You talked about having more kids, right? It’s his. So get on the plane and tell him the good news!” Fran sighed at Kim’s words.

“The timing just sucks.” Fran whispered.

“Excuse me?” Kim looked at her irritated.

“Kim, they are touring for the next two years. You know how difficult it will be to keep our relationship going. You quit your job to be with Jon. I can’t do that. I can’t just jump on a plane and leave. I have Jason. …I…I…don’t wanna be alone during a pregnancy again.”

“Oh, Fran.” Kim pulled her close when the tears started to fill her eyes again. While Fran was pregnant with Jason, Michael was barely at home. He wasn’t even there when his son was born. She tried to help Fran as much as she could, but she knew it was something completely different than having your husband with you.

“You thought it would happen when the tour was over, right?” Fran nodded.

“Yeah, and maybe…I don’t….” she stared down at her hands.

“A diamond ring on your finger first.” Kim finished her thought. Fran nodded again.

“Well, it didn’t happen like you wanted it. But Fran you were always great in adjusting to new situations. I think that’s exactly what you have to do now.”

“Maybe you’re right.” Fran nodded and Kim could see that she was finally getting back to her normal self.

“Good. Now first things first…When was your last menstruation?” Kim asked.

“Before Hawaii.” Kim checked her calendar on the IPhone.

“So, roughly eight or nine weeks.”

“Yeah.”

“Did you make a test or went to the doctor?” Kim asked totally in her medical mode now.

“No.” Fran whispered. Kim stared at her.

“Do you have one here?”

“Yeah.”

“Why don’t you make it and we wait and see?” Fran nodded and vanished into the bathroom. Kim sighed and checked her watch. She hoped they would make to the plane in time.

“Five minutes.” Fran said when she came back. Kim nodded and started the stopwatch on her phone.

“You can already see it, right?” Fran was standing in front of the mirror and tugging at the tight black leather pants and the deep purple low cut top she bought earlier today. Now Kim also knew why she didn’t wanna try on some tight looking clothes. She was afraid Lexi or Alejandra would find out about her little secret.

“No, you don’t. I think you even lost a couple pounds.” Kim told her. Fran shot her a look.

“Yeah, I know. The same thing happened when you were pregnant with Jason. But Fran you look great and not pregnant at all. I’m sure Rich will have problems to focus…especially when you lean forward.” Kim grinned when Fran cupped her breast and pushed them up a little bit more.

“Well, you look hot too, my friend. I can’t believe you really bought that dress.”

Kim was wearing a tight mid-night blue halter dress, which stopped about six inches above her knee. The bustier was held together by five silver shining clasps, which created a great deep v-cut, which stopped shortly before her navel.

It was for sure Jon wouldn’t have to think twice about her wearing any lingerie. There was simply no space for it left.

“I thought I make the most of it as long as I’m here. Besides I feel a little adventures.” Kim grinned.

“Time’s up, Fran.” She added after a glance at her phone. Fran took a deep breath and walked back into the bathroom. Kim tapped her foot impatiently.

“And?” she asked when Fran returned with the test stick in her hands.

“Positive.”

Chapter 86

“Daddy!” Hector rushed into Jon’s suite in Miami and launched himself at Tico.

“Hello hijo. Did you miss me?” Tico picked the five year old up.

“Yes.” The boy whispered and leaned his head against his father’s shoulder. Kim smiled. The boy was totally focused on his father and ignoring everyone else in the room.

“Kim? What are you doing here?” Fran’s voice made her turn around. She grinned.

“I flew to Atlanta yesterday and surprised Jon after the show.” She gave her best friend a hug and watched her moving back to Richie immediately.

“What about work?”

“They told me they have someone else for the shift.” Fran looked at her in disbelieve.

“They really try to push you around now that you told them you quit, right?” Several heads turned.

“You quit your job?” David asked surprised.

“Yes, for now it seems the right thing to do.” Kim said calmly and smiled at Jon, who pulled her close for a short kiss.

“Wow, you two really wanna make this work, huh?” Rich looked at his band mate.

“Yep, do you mind?” Jon laughed.

“No! It’s fuc…uhm ….absolutely fine with me.” Rich stopped the cursing when he saw Alejandra giving him a warning look. Hector was listening to the conversation really interested now.

“Kim, Fran…I think you haven’t met my wife and son yet. This is Alejandra.” Tico chose the moment to introduce the women. “And this shy guy here is Hector.”

“Mi amor, these are Kimberly and Fran.” The women greeted each other smiling and were eyeing each other curiously, while Hector was hiding his face in Tico’s shoulder.

“Where’s you better half, Lema?” Jon wondered.

“I have no idea.” David said and pulled out his phone to hit the speed dial. A ringing could be heard from the other side of the door.

“Hold your horses.” Lexi said when she pushed the door open and entered the room.

“Where have you been, woman?” David asked theatrically.

“Well, what do you thing Mister? A plane and a car.” She replied dryly before placing a long kiss on his pouting lips. Dave sighed and wrapped his arms around her.

“So, how about we get some lunch?” Richie asked after David and Lexi finally parted and she greeted Fran and Kim.

“Good idea. We have to leave for the sound check in Tampa in a while anyway.” Jon agreed. Hector frowned and put his arms tighter around his father’s neck.

“Don’t leave, Daddy.”

The men turned to the little boy and sighed. Sad kids’ eyes were the worst thing in their business. Kim squeezed Jon’s hand softly. He hated it to be away from his kids and you could see David, Tico and Rich were feeling the same.

“How about you fly with me to Tampa. Just us men. The girls stay here. They come to see the show tonight.” Tico suggested in a throaty voice and searched his wife’s eyes. Ali nodded with misty eyes.

“Can I play drums?” the boy asked excited. Tico smiled.

“Sure, baby.”

“Well, that’s settled. What do you girls wanna do?” Jon asked. The four women looked at each other and grinned.

“Shopping!”

The men groaned when they heard the answer.

“How do they do it? They just met?” David wondered while pulling out his credit card and handing it over to Lexi.

“No, idea. Genetics?” Tico speculated and got a sweet kiss from Ali for giving her his black visa card.

“Don’t argue with me.” Rich said when he handed his card to Fran. She stared at the card and hesitated.

“Please, darling.” She sighed and nodded.

“Thank you.” She gave him a hug. Kim grinned. Even though Fran didn’t know it, she just gained points with Lexi and Ali who watched the scene interested.

“Kimi?” Jon grinned and waved with his credit card. She laughed.

“You’re sure I shouldn’t lend you some money to fill up the tank of your jet, baby?” she teased him. He laughed while Ali and Lexi watched her confused. Seemed their men hadn’t told them about her parents yet.

“Nah, I’ll be fine, hon. But maybe you can tip the driver later.” Kim giggled when he pulled her close.

Fran watched the others joking and laughing. She bit her lip and stared down at the credit card in her hands. Kim shot Rich a look, but before he could say something Lexi stepped closer to Fran.

“Girl, believe me. We all needed some time to get used to it.” She linked arms with her and pulled her along.

“But we deserve every single penny. We have to put up with them and their craziness.” She continued to joke and eased Fran’s tension.

“When I think about it…” Lexi stopped in her track and turned around to look at David. “…I think I’m underpaid.” The men roared with laughter.

David gasped in played shock and put his hand over his heart before falling on the couch.

“I’m dead. My heart is broken. My life is over. The light…I see the light.”

“Well, Lexi. I think that’s it.” Kim said laughing after grabbing David’s wrist and checking his pulse.

“Oh, dammit. I’m too young and beautiful to be a widow.” Lexi grinned and carefully took a step towards the door.

“Isn’t this Billy Joel guy single again?” she asked innocently.

“OH! YOU…..” David jumped to his feet and rushed after her when she ran out of the room the minute she finished her sentence.

Chapter 85

“Jon, we really need to get going now.” Kim tried to push him away from her lightly.

“Wait, I think you still have gold color there…” he leaned forward and kissed her neck. Kim moaned. He was driving her crazy. They already did it twice in the shower this morning while he was helping her remove the gold shiny body paint.

“Jon, stop it…” she could barely hear her own voice. Her body reacted so instantly to his touch and she missed him so  damn much. Her gaze fell to the alarm clock.

“JON! STOP!”

“Ok, ok…” he jumped back breathing heavy.

“You are lethal Mister.” She told him while trying to get her breathing under control as well. He grinned devilish.

“Ok, I’m out of here.” She ripped the door open and escaped into the corridor. One more minute alone with him and they would never make to Richie’s suite for breakfast yet alone to the airport on time.

“Oh, come on Kimi…” she could hear his laugh while she was walking down the corridor.

“Grrr…nice heels, hon.” Jon purred into her ear when he caught up with her.

“Jesus, Jon.” She muttered under her breath when his right hand travelled slowly over her ass while she was knocking at Richie’s door.

“Hi guys.” Kim smiled at the surprised faces when she entered the suite where everyone was already situated for breakfast before they would fly to Miami together.

“Oh thank God!” David shouted and jumped up to give her a big hug. She laughed.

“Was he that bad?”

“You have no idea, sweetheart. You have no idea.” Richie answered and placed a kiss on her cheek.

“Like you were easy to handle.” Jon told him, grinning at his friend’s contrite face.

“Great to see you, Kim.” Tico hugged her gently and offered her his seat. “Would you like some coffee?”

“Orange juice?” David kneeled down in front of her, bowed his head demur and held his glass up.

“Croissant, eggs, bacon or fruits, my lady?” Richie bowed as well and made an inviting gesture towards the tray.

“Assholes!” Jon grumbled and sat down in an armchair. They all laughed. Kim got to her feet and walked over to him.

“I missed you too, Jon.” She said and carefully sit down on his lap. He smirked and pulled her close for a long kiss.

Awww, ain’t they sweet?” David chirped.

See them coming down the street…” Rich sang slightly modifying the 1927 classic.

Now I ask you very confidentially…” David joined him.

Ain’t they sweet.” Tico’s voices dropped as deep as possible and made Kim shiver.

“Oh, just wait until your girl are here.”

“They are all coming?” Kim asked and took a sip of coffee.

“Well, we hope they all will tonight.” David waggled with his eyebrows.

“Perv!”

“Oh, come on you were all thinking the same.” He grinned.

“To answer your question, Kim. They are all flying in. New York, LA and well Miami.” Tico grinned. His wife would come with his son to the hotel. He couldn’t wait to see them again, even though they were talking on the phone every day.

Kim forced a smile on her face and suddenly had no longer an appetite. Jon watched her pushing her scrambled eggs and bacon around on the plate.

“Don’t worry honey. You and the girls will get along. It won’t be like Thanksgiving and you already met Lexi at David’s birthday party.” He caressed her hand with his thumb.

“Well, you can’t really say that. She was very busy hosting the party and keeping your keyboard player in check. We only exchanged two or three words. It’s not that we got to know each other.” And I haven’t met Alejandra yet, she continued the thought.

“Hey, I wasn’t that bad…was I?” David looked questioning at Tico.

“Let’s say everything got a little bit out of hands, Lemma. And I’m very glad my wife was in Florida.” The drummer answered dryly. His wife hated it when he was drunk and like every Latin woman let him feel her disapproval for days.

His son was smart enough to catch a cold and get a fever, which made Ali stay at home and not fly to New York for David’s birthday and saved him a lot of misery and apologizing.

David pouted lightly. He knew he got drunk like hell, not because he could remember drinking that much, but he woke up with a hell of a hangover. His band mates were no help, they could barely remember anything themselves and Richie, the only person who stayed sober that night, refused to give him any clues. He was just guessing that he didn’t do anything stupid because his wife was still talking to him.

“I take it Momma B. showed her best side?” David asked without pressing them for more information, knowing very well he wouldn’t get any and filled his plate with food again.

“Yep, apparently my young, stupid blonde girlfriend is only after my money.” Jon said dryly. Kim shook her head grinning lightly. The other’s just stared at them.

“She really said that?” Rich asked in disbelieve. He could see how much the words hurt Kim.

“Yes.” Kim answered simply. Tico shook his head. Sometimes Jon’s mother was really rude. He had no doubt it was rather unpleasant for Kim to meet her.

“Don’t worry, Kim. Ali or Lexi ain’t like her. They are a lot like you and Fran.” He assured her.

“They get along pretty well with Dot, so I don’t think there should be a problem.” David agreed.

Kim relaxed lightly. She knew Dorothea wouldn’t make friends with someone she didn’t like, besides Dot didn’t gave her a warning for Lexi or Alejandra, only for Heather.
